First topic message reminder :

I figured the only to get to know your clan, is to know where it came from. This will be very long, so I will post in sections.

Chapter 1.

In late 2005 Wifey and I had been living in Orlando, Florida for close to 6 months when she said her brother wanted to move from Michigan and live with us. Having met him before and us getting along, I agreed and he drove down. At the time I had a computer I had built 7 years before. The day FRoG moved in, he installed quake on the computer and started playing. I had tried it on a friends computer about 5 years before...It lagged so bad due to lack of ram that I never even passed the mirror on the 1st board in single player. I had no intrest in the game at that point.

Wifey and frog argued alot about the computer. She wanted to play yahoo/pogo games....he wanted to play quake. I was working most of the time, so by the time I got home, I could play my yahoo pool and chat with friends or download music/movies which is all I usually did. On my days off I noticed FRoG would play for hours upon hours on the same map....with out a break. Wifey and I use to make fun of him all the time about being not only addicted to a video game, but dumb for not playing other maps. FRoG tried to show me the game a few times and even get me to play...I declined.

I finally decided to buy another computer so it would ease the tention in the house. It worked for a little while till I came home and saw FRoG playing on my computer and not wifeys. Was time for FRoG to get a job. He did and mainly played on his days off.

FRoG had told me he was in a "clan" called FYA and was having fun. He tried often to get me to play, I still declined.

I deleted quake off my computer and told him to play on hers, and she could use my computer if he was using hers. I ended up deleting quake about 15 times off my computer cause he would reinstall it after I went to work on his days off. Thankfully, after working for a while, he was able to buy his own computer.

We moved from our apartment to a house in December 2006. FRoG finally had his own room and I was happy to not have to hear the annoying sound of chat beeps and railjumps once and for all. Again, all he did on his days off was play Quake. And again, wifey and I made fun of him for it.

FRoG had made some friends at his work and asked if he could have a party one night. I didnt work the next day so was fine with it. He was also off that day and asked again if I wanted to play quake before everyone came over. I finally said yes. He installed it on my computer along with nemesis, a switcher and Xfire. My 1st server was the old CHS server. I managed to get 1 spawn melt so I think I had 1 in 15. After the game he caem to the other room to explain some more options and controls. He said he would make my name with color, so to pick something. I picked Guinness. It was green, white, and red. (didnt have orange damn it) We played in the CHS server till his friends showed up. He left, I stayed. I played about 10 games in multi maps. I think the best I had was 10 in a game. I was really bad.

For the next few weeks or so, I played off and on. After a while, I found my self playing alot more often once I saw Xfire had a stats page. Ima stat Whore!.

FRoG had left FYA a few months back and they had died. Atom!c started 2k7. CHS and 2k7 was the only clan tags I had ever seen. I kept playing at the CHS server and FRoG kept playing aswell, teaching me servers and about clans. I started to get better a little bit at a time. We noticed HCS and 2k7 having "Scrims" once in a while. All that meant is I couldnt play. That sucked!. I asked FRoG about "scrims" and he explained its a match between 2 clans to see who plays better. I wanted in on that. I went to the CHS website for the 1st time to see if I could post to join. Blah, invite only. I tried to talk to Atom!c a few times, he didnt reply when I asked about joining. So I gave up trying to join, hoping someone from CHS would invite me, never happened. On March 22 2007 FRoG said, "maybe we should make a clan so we can scrim CHS and 2k7."
That sounded good to me, so we went to the garage for a beer and a smoke to figure out a name and a tag. I had about 300 ideas, cant remember any of them anymore, but I had a ton. FRoG said "pwp, pain without pleasure if we lose, pleasure without pain if we win". I told him I didnbt care for the name too much and to keep thinking. He finished his smoke about 3 minutes before me and went inside. I finished mine and went in to see he had already made tags for him and me and saved them. I fugured what was done was done. I made a new xfire name and *pWp* was officially born.

First thing was to scrim CHS like we had wanted. We asked, they laughed, said no. We tried on many occasions to get them to scrim, they declined. One day we asked Atom!c if he wanted to. They were the other reason we made the clan, was to scrim them. He said sure. He had a home based server in CA which actually was well made. We got raped. 25-2 1st game, 25-2 the 2nd. I was very nervous, but still had a blast. I was officially addicted to scrims.

FRoG and I scrimmed alot vs 2k7 and a little against a few other clans and never won. CHS still wouldnt scrim us, so we gave up asking.

1st request to join *pWp* was someone named "snowz". Frog said he would have to tryout. I had no idea what that meant but followed frog to the o2o server due to it being empty. They played, snowz lost...but FRoG said he was in. We could finally scrim 3v3, and we did. Alot. And lost. Alot. Snowz started fading in and out due to the fact we didnt have a website or server. He finally disapeared and it was back to us.

FRoG went inactive due to work for about 2 months, and I still tagged up every game. I started to miss scrims alot so askeg Suger*Coated if I could join his and Dreameaters clan, TGZ. They said yes and we scrimmed like mad for a little while. I dont remember the reason I left, but I did. I went back to pwp tags. Frog still being inactivfe, and me still wanting to scrim....I went as a T for 2k7. Being a T for 2k7 really meant alot to me, but I had differances with a few members who I felt too the game to serious....knowing I wasnt gonna make the vote, I pulled my app and went back once again to pwp tags.

Dreameater saw me one day and asked if I was getting a server soon. It was the next step in making the clan grow, so I really started looking into it. I didnt wanna pay someone for 1 server every month when I could have a server built and host as many as I wanted. I asked someone to build me one who did it for a living, and he said he would....for the right price. We decided on a fair amount...but it would take me a while to get the money together.

I begged Nucking to join pwp due to the fact we had become good friends. He did, and we played in alot of scrims. I think we actually won a few. He left as well as a few others who joined that I really dont remember their names who came and went due to not having a server or website.

I knew it was time to get the site up atlease. In October 2007 we officially launched "www.pwp.mygoo.org" after a few weeks looking for the right forum site. We only had 1 pwp member besides FRoG and I at the time, Donta. On the day the site went live, I snet the link to everyone I knew to have them join. I started the ball rolling to where we are today.

After a long time of begging, Nucking agreed to come back to pwp as did dreameater. Sugarcoated was soon to follow. We had also picked up a friend of theirs, Torch, along the way. It was going slow, but was going. Knowing the only way we could stay afloat was a server.....I pushed the guy building it to hurry. He did, and we got our 1st server. Thats when we started to grow.

Nucking was known very well in alot of servers, so I asked him to recruit people for the clan. Becasue what happened with trying to scrim CHS and the problem I had as a T in 2k7....my main goal was to have a clan who excepted people no matter how good they were, or if they were skilled....as long as they were fun.

Nucking was the best recruiter a clan could have. All I had to do is look at a server, see a name I saw before and say "go get them". He did. Alot.
Pornfish was the 1st. I had played him in dallas alot, never talked, but I knew he was good. I asked Nucking to get him for the clan....some how he did. That was one of the 1st big additions to pwp.

Next was presents and Thong. He got them as well. We started letting everyone that we all knew about the site, they all started joining and posting. Things were going great.

One day out of the blue, Super*Hooligan posted to join. I had played him a ton in CHS and Killer servers and he also was damn good. I was excited he wanted to join our noob clan and let him in.

Neko and Killbox, joined soon after. We had a growing clan and 3 servers. It was going great.

Then things went even better. Reaper from UE quit to join pwp. It was amazing to me to have him onboard. But, it didnt last long.

Around that time we hit a few problems. A few hackers were in the clan and were caught. I was very upset. Everything I worked so hard for as did others was gonna crash due to some kids who decided cheating was better then just having fun. One day I talked to reaper about it. He said "All clans go through this, its the best clans who make it past it". We did. We are still here. Reaper was a big part of pwp's growth as well as Jinx, Wolf, Sketch, Atom!c, and after the fact.......CHS.

There is much more to this I will add later. Many people have made us what we are today. Trust me, you are not forgotten. Your time in the light will gome Smile

I will update more soon. Chapter 2 of *pWp*TheJourney comming soon Smile

Stay Tuned.

Chapter 2.

The servers were a huge part of a clan becomming known but FRoG and I ran into a ton of problems. We started the pwp servers with nemesis. It was easy to use, easy to set up and ran great. But everyone with noghost complained and everytime I went to Jinx for help, he only knew noghost commands......so we were dead in the water. FRoG and I finally decided to switch to NG server settings. After asking a few people, we found out how to intergrate nemesis into it, but still host a noghost server. I cant tell you how happy we were finally getting things set up that way.

Well, problems hit. We realized 2 main things. 1, the IP kept changing. 2. so did the ports. Every time someone added the server to xfire, it was different the next day. This was a huge problem. Fixing the IP was easy, we paid for a ststic IP and were good to go. Port wise, screwed. We tried everything. Called the manufacture, had a 2 hour convo with comprichard, and about the same lenght with maverick. Noone could figure it out. We tried everything. Things started falling apart little by little becasue we didnt have a server that people could find for scrims. We couldnt bind the IP cosue the ports kept changing. After about a month and a half, I finally stummbled across the problem and it was fixed!!!!! We had normal, default ported servers!. This was a huge highpoint. From that day, we started more and more scrims. The servers were starting to get people and thats when we started to get noticed.

Now mind you, I am a very competitive person. Wanting pwp #1 has always been my goal. But lets be real. Taking a new clan to the top was something I knew I couldnt do until I realized.........there is no #1 clan. Whats #1 mean? They win the most? Have the best members, have the most fun, have the best servers or webpage? Or have the most respect. I have always believed in respect being the greatest thing well and above skill. So, I set sights on being the #1 respected clan in quake.

How the hell do you take a new clan with newer members and get respect? I thought posting in era alot made me look disprate. The 1 way I saw I could get the name out there was.....catch a hacker. I had never looked @ logs much casue I wasnt sure what I was looking for. But 1 day I had an xfire message. "Law just dropped". I went to the logs and saw indeed he had. We had all the leaders and him get together to see what happened. I couldnt tell if he hacked, or if it was something else. I talked to Mav about it, he said it was a hack, and to leave him banned.

This was a blessing in disguise to the clan. One side of the coin, we were going to lose a captain that we all liked alot. He was a good kid, and it hit us hard that he tried a hack and was caught. On the second note, this was a post I could make so all other clans saw how serious we were about having a clean clan....and would even post about 1 of our own that noone would have found out about if we didnt post it. I posted. I also posted other hackers caught in pwp servers. This is when we started getting noticed.

I realized early that clans that accused people were not respected. I came up with a rule....after every scrim, everyon in pwp said GG. No matter what. I realized for every scrim we lost, and every scrim we ended saying GG.... we gained respect.

pwp has scrimmed almost every clan out there. But things picked up for us one night. FRoG and I were playing a 1v1 for fun when I got an xfire from era-classic. "wanna scrim 2v2?" Was our 1st time having era ask us to scrim and not us bugging them. I saked where, he said "your server". So get this, era asked us to scrim, then requested our server. I told him ok, and we went to the server. It was Classic and Birdman. Who was going to win? We all knew, but played anyway. After a 25-1 loss, they asked to play agin. That seemed odd, we went even a challange. But we played anyway. 25-0. They asked yet again, asked if we could try another map. We said that was fine. We ended up playing about 6 scrims. Lost all of them by alot BUT....I realized that night...we were noticed.

What was going to happen next? How could we build even more? We wernt, things started on a spiral to hell a few days later....Worst thing in pwp history happened...Presents quit and then Pornfish posted to quit.

Chapter 3 comming soon.

T@D wrote:First post that I read was from Presents. She said she was going to take a break from Quake totally because it was taking up too much of her time. Havibg a family and a job, I could see where she was comming from. But on the same notion, she brought a kind of "life" to the clan for some players. I didn't get a chance to talk to her much outside of quake, but she seemed to have a good amount of people that called her a friend. I respected that and was sad so see she was taking a break. I didn't realize that it was less of a break.....and she was quitting for good. I dont think anyone saw that comming.

Not too long later, I have come home one night from talkiing my family out.....Sat down to check the forums as I have done every day. I came across a long post by Pornfish. Knowing before I even started to read it, he was leaving....I messaged him. He told me he was sorry, but it was time for him to move on. Now, so you all know...I will never beg any member to stay. It's not because I don't want you too....It's becasue I dont wanna stop you from trying out new things, playing new games, meeting new people....and just plain having fun. BUT. I knew early on that if porn left, it would impact the clan hard from teh management portion and would make it very hard to keep things growing as we had. So, I begged him to stay. I am happy to say it only took a few minutes before he agreed and asked me to delete his post. I did. Porn asd I are probable the only 2 people alive who read that post. Im glad it stayed that way.

I let him know the plans I had for the clan and what goals were set. How respect was important and how I thought we could get there. He was onboard, and getting to that place would have been all but impossiable if he would have left.

Around this time is where Reaper from UE started really helping out in the forums. He made a post to help everyone with cfgs, helped with tips on playing....just all in all was a big brother to the clan. He got us a few scrims with UE, and promoted our name favorabley around the community. This is when we started to get noticed more and more. I was actually started to get people adding me to xfire that I had heard of, but never saw. More and more scrim requests started comming our way but we were still losing alot due to not really haveing direction in game on how to work together.

Another stressful day at work. Got home, went on my computer to check forums and I had a message from reaper for me to read his post. Reaper posted to join pwp!. Holy shit!. I though this was some kind of sick joke, so I went to the UE page to see. Yup, he had quit. pwp had it 1st "ringer". It was time to start scrimming right way.....well, after his tryout ofcourse Smile

Would we start to win havibg a new elite player in the clan?....

T@D wrote:Reaper being the newest addition was an amazing feeling. He had come from one of the top 5, or even 3 IMO, clans that I had seen in the short time I played. We were going to get a look into how the elite practiced, played, and scrimmed.

We started scrimming right away. Although we were still losing to the top clans, we were starting to beat the clans that we had trouble with before 2k7, wsk, vR, a4h from time to time. We were also more competitive with clans like H$, UE, o2o, and era. What a feeling to see our skill levels growing. Reaper was a big part of our teamwork from the start. Explaining how to communicate to eachother helped us grow as a team.

Fastforwarding a few weeks. I personally saw the BS that reaper got now being part of a "Noob" clan. It was not fair how he was treated by a few of the "elite" players in the top clans. "Reaper, you left UE for this noob clan?? LMFAO!!!" Was said quite abit. Now, I cant say for sure, but I think that started to weigh on him more and more. Although pwp was making progress, we wernt at the level he was accustomed to as a player. He gave his reasons for leaving, posted....and that era of pwp was over. It was bitter sweet. We hated to see him go, but personally learned alot about the interworkings of Quake 1.16n clans and the direction we needed to travel to better ourselves not only in skill, but the clan as a whole. I will always appriciate what Reap did with pwp, hes always welcomed here.

I was contemplating on writing about a situation that occured during this same time period becasue I really didnt wanna add too much about the people who hurt pwp, or walked over us from time to time. But thinking it over, everything that has happened taught us how to be what we are.....So I am going to add it in anyway.

Chapter 5, the Obby situation.

T@D wrote:Well, this part of the story is sort of odd. Having a section mainly revolve around 1 person isn't the norm for the history....but did make somewhat an impact.

Obby came to pwp wanting to join. He was active, nice kid...skills wernt bad...we gave him a shot. He actually lived about 20 minutes from my house, so it was kinda nice to chat with someone local. After a while of chatting, he started telling me about personal problems. I did the best I can to help him out. After a while he started asking to move up in the clan. At that time, porn, my wife, hool, frog were putting so much time and effort into the clan....it was hard to let someone else into that part. I kept telling him to take more time, just wait a bit. He said he understood, it was NP.

Some time went by and a new clan started comming around...a4h. The seemed like nice people and they had a player we got to know fairly well and liked alot from ROS....Buck. We scrimmed them fairly often and I started kind of taking their leader under my wing. I wanted to do what I could to help them out to be a bigger and better clan. So, I basically was trying to run 1 clan, and help build another. Granted, running pwp wasnt that bad since the leaders and coleaders were some of the best I have ever seen.

After getting to know the leader od a4h fairly well, he started asking to merge with pwp. He said he always wanted to be in the clan, and wanted to bring all his members. I told him I would think it over....was a big decision.

Theother leaders wernt against it....honestly, casuse of Buck. Having the chance to have him in pwp was a deciding factor in the decision to go ahead with the merger.

There was a few stipulations the a4h leader had fopr the merger. He wanted to be a coleader. That was hard to give up, but we agreed. The day I was sitting and typing the thread and announcement....someone messeged me..."you know the leader of a4h is obby from pwp right"?

I was shocked. I talked to both of them alot. Never paid attention to the fact it was different times. Both names were active....no reason to guess that.

I confronted him under his oddy name. He admitted it, killed a4h, and lost any chance to ever not only be a big part of pwp....but any part of pwp. We moved on with out him.

This was one of my 1st dissapointments in people in this game. I have always wanted people to have fun, enjoy the game, enjoy their time in our clan......but lying is where I draw the line.

If you take anything from this chapter......please let it be honesty. The internet may be a fantasy world, noone really knows you. But be yourself. Respect is given to those that display a reason to have it.

Next chapter.....
